Shin Hye Sung & Lyn – He Said She Said
01 It Was You
The title track of the album, “It Was You”, is a duet by the two artistes. This ballad is very smooth and relaxing from the beginning as they croon love messages to each other. Their harmonization skills are great and match well with the background instrumentals. Though I feel that this song fails to beat “Love…After”, listeners should still give this song a chance. As fans of both Shin Hyesung and Lyn, I felt that they did justice to their own solo tracks in the album. Track 3 (Echo) and track 5 (My Man) are of the same melody; the difference being that the songs are arranged a bit differently and that the first track is sung by Shin and the latter by Lyn. In addition, the two singers wrote the lyrics to their respective versions. Both versions are worth listening; Shin’s being a bit more to the ballad side and Lyn’s being on the R&B side. Being an R&B fan, I personally enjoyed Lyn’s version more (and it is also my favorite track of the album). Tracks 6 and 7 are the artistes’ respective solo tracks and I enjoyed “Even If It’s Erased”, which is another R&B track by Lyn. The instrumentals are very catchy and the chorus of the song is also very pleasing to the ear. Tracks 8 and 9 are remakes of each other's songs. “Greet” is originally a song by Lyn from her sophomore album and “Already Know Everything” is from Shin’s second album as well. I feel that both artistes did justice to each other’s tracks. In conclusion, I feel that Shin Hye Sung and Lyn did a great job collaborating and performing their own respective tracks. It may have been better if there were more duets but covering each other’s songs was pretty creative as well. I feel that ballad and R&B fans will be interested in this album and vocalization is not a problem, since both artistes know how to make music. 4.5/5 5/5 - Even if you're not a fan of this artist/group this album is a must buy. |
