2NE1’s CL Featured in Exclusive Interview with BBC News

On December 16, 2NE1’s CL was interviewed by BBC News, reflecting once again the massive amount of attention the group has been receiving lately. Appearing in an exclusive interview with BBC’s Singapore-based reporter, 2NE1’s leader talked about the group’s success and the significance of winning the recent MTV Iggy “Best New Band of the Year” award.

Saying she hopes the award to be “a good start for 2NE1,” CL said, “I don’t think we could say ‘success’ yet, but I think it’s a good start and we have a long way to go. And I have a lot of things I want to achieve.”

She went on to say, “I believe that music has no language and I think it could help people connect to our culture.” CL also discussed the role of 2NE1 in paving the way for more Asian bands to make it big in the global music scene and how they would like to represent Asian women in the world, saying, “I think it’s about time.”
