Brazilian Press Compares 4minute to Lady Gaga and Rihanna after “United Cube Concert in Brazil”

Following the “United Cube” concert in Brazil on December 13, Brazilian press had nothing but positive reviews for the Cube Entertainment artists that held the first K-Pop concert in the Latin American region.

Brazil’s daily paper, “Estado,” gave front page coverage of the event, going as far to compare 4minute to Lady Gaga and Rihanna. It reported, “K-Pop is already enjoying global popularity through YouTube. The Asian cultural boom that first started in Japan has now shifted to Korea, and through this concert, K-Pop’s proliferation in Latin America will only grow.”

The largest network TV in Brazil, Globo TV, also produced a special segment for this concert through a show called “Fantastico.” Some online communities such as “K-Pop Station” and “Saran Gingayo” are also reported to have covered the event in Portuguese.

At the press conference held prior to the concert, more than 100 press members gathered to check out the first K-Pop concert in the region. The organizer of the event said the press conference lasted over an hour and a half.

“We’re excited to be the first to advance to the massive Latin American market, but also feel pressure at the same time. We’ll do our best to set a good example for other K-Pop artists that may follow us in the future,” Cube Entertainment said in a statement.

BEAST’s Yoon Doo Joon said, “To see so many Brazilian fans, in addition to the huge number of UK fans in London, we’re truly surprised and impressed by the size of our global fanbase. I also feel a lot of pride and responsibility to see so many fans support us in Korean.”

Meanwhile, some of the top Cube Entertainment artists, including 4minute, BEAST, and G.NA, performed at the “United Cube Concert in Brazil” on December 13. For two and a half hours, they gave live performances of their hit songs in front of more than 3,500 fans. The concert was part of Cube Entertainment’s global tour concert, which included visits to London and Tokyo in the past.
