IU Tells Hidden Meaning Behind "You and I" and Shows Buffer Dance Move

IU’s new single “You and I” has been revealed to be a song that tells a story to her future boyfriend.

On KBS 2TV’s “Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook,” which aired on December 16, IU and Yoo Hee Yeol discussed her new single. He commented, “Your title song has a fairytale-like aura.” She answered, “’Nagging,’ ‘Good Day,’ and ‘You and I’ are part of a series of fairytale-like songs, and those will probably be the last ones.”

IU explained, “Since I’m turning 20 in less than 3 weeks, I wanted to say to my future boyfriend to wait until then.” Yoo Hee Yeol humorously replied, “I can wait forever for you,” making the audience burst with laughter.

(IU also has made several other apperances on Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook. This cover of Girls’ Generation’s “Gee,” Big Bang’s “Lies,” and Super Junior’s “Sorry Sorry.” was from an episode in 2009. Check out the 2:09 mark for Yoo Hee Yeol’s hilarious one-sided uncle love!)

She also demonstrated Jang Woo Hyuk’s “Buffering Dance.”

Yoo Hee Yeol asked, “Can you do anything well other than singing?” and IU answered, “When I was preparing my album, I thought that I was only good at singing, but not too long ago, I tried dancing to Jang Woo Hyuk Sunbae-nim’s popping dance. Surprisingly, it looked acceptable, and I thought that maybe I can dance well too.”

However, when she got on stage, she said to herself, “I think I’m crazy. What the heck am I doing?” She performed the “Buffering Dance” as she was laughing.

Yoo Hee Yeol could not hide his laugh from the adorable yet awkward dance and said, “This dance is famous for being kind of disgusting, but you dance it really well. I got to witness such an interesting phenomenon! Don’t do this anywhere else,” making the audience choke with laughter.
