Weekly K-Pop Music Chart 2011 - May Week 3

F(x) wins the #1 song for the second week in a row with “Pinocchio(Danger)”. This song has swept all music shows and various internet rankings. “Pinocchio” won by more than 100 points this week over Jay Park’s “Abandoned”, which moved up to No. 2 this week. It is followed by After School’s “Shampoo” and Sistar’s sub-unit Sistar 19’s “Ma Boy” rounding out the top 4.

Three new songs in the top 10 this week, led by Lim Jeong Hee’s “Golden Lady” debuting at No. 7.  Lim Jeong Hee transforms herself into a rock diva this time, and her live performance is backed by an all-female band behind. She is famous for her ballads and strong vocals. We have almost forgotten that she debuted with an up-tempo song “Music Is My Life” before switching to ballads. This is also the first time since her debut she is performing a more up-tempo song. “Golden Lady” features the rapping of 4minute’s Hyun Ah, and the song’s MV stars another fast rising female singer, G.NA.

At No. 9 is ballad duo December’s latest hit “Beautiful Woman”. December has steadily solidifies their position in K-pop, with all their recent hits in the top 20 despite not performing as extensively as other singers.

At No. 10,  it is the debut of 4minute’s new song “Heart To Heart”. Their last hit “Mirror Mirror” spent two weeks at No. 1.  It was the group’s first No. 1 hit on this chart. Let see if this new song will gain that same momentum.

YESTERDAY ONCE MORE:

Country Kko Kko – Gimme Gimme
Genre: Pop/Dance
External from soompi image
Album: Country Kko Kko Vol. 2 (1999) Track 3
Listen To: Full Song
Comment: Country Kko Kko was a cheerful pop duo formed by former Roora member Shin Jung Hwan and rock vocalist Tak Jae Hoon. They debuted in 1998 with Oh Happy which becomes an overnight success.  They followed up with another big hit Gimme Gimme (our choice here).  They went on to release four more albums before disbanding in 2002. Country Kko Kko was one of the more successful duos in the early old skool k-pop era.  Image wise and stage presence if we compare to artists today, Norazo comes to mind.
