KARA to Win a Best Dressed Award in Japan

Japan is having a Kara Fever right now!

Five-member girl group KARA is set to win the annual Best Dressed Award at the 2011 Best Dresser Awards in Japan.

The Korean idol group, which is gaining tremendous popularity in Japan, will attend the iconic fashion awards show on Nov. 30 at Cerulean Tower in Tokyo. The show began in 1972 and was founded by the Japan Men’s Fashion Association. Some previous winners include singers Namie Amuro, Ayumi Hamasaki and Ken Hirai, who are some of the top celebrities in Japan. KARA will be the second Korean winner of the award.

Park Jin Young Cast for Sequel of “Dream High”

JYP Entertainment’s founder Park Jin Young has been cast (again) for the sequel of immensely popular KBS drama “Dream High.” “Park Jin Young will appear as a key link from season one to season two. We have the script till the third episode completed, and Park Jin Young’s character is included. He’s the only season one cast member to appear in the sequel as well. Unless there’s a huge change to the storyline, Park Jin Young will most likely appear in the show,” local media OSEN reported quoting an official from the drama series.

Park Shin Hye Signs with Top Japanese Management Agency

Park Shin Hye’s star continues to shine brighter. The young actress recently signed an exclusive contract with a Japanese management agency to further build her career and activities in Japan. Local news agencies report that Park Shin Hye has inked with IMX, the same company that handles Hallyu star Bae Yong Joon, as well as other A-listers Lee Jun Ki, Lee Min Ho, So Ji Sub, Son Ye Jin and idol group ZE:A. The company is also noted for being one of the pioneers of airing Korean series such as “Hotelier” and “My Name Is Kim Samsoon” through the Internet.

Actress Im Soo Jung Joins Bae Yong Joon’s Key East Entertainment

Another acting heavyweight joins the top stars in Bae Yong Joon’s management agency, Key East Entertainment. It was reported that actress Im Soo Jung, most recently seen in the Cannes entry “Come Rain, Come Shine” with Hyun Bin has signed with Key East. Im Soo Jung was formerly under the management of Sidus HQ. “I feel that I need to grow as an actor, and challenge myself in the various aspects of the entertainment industry,” the actress stated.

Choi Ji Woo Is Most Recognizable and Popular Female Hallyu Star in Japan

Nikkei Entertainment magazine carried out a survey on “Hallyu Star Rankings” among 300 women residing in Japan aged 15 to 59, from August to September this year. The magazine is regarded by the Japanese public as one of the most credible news publications. Results of the survey were revealed in the magazine’s latest October special edition, where Choi Ji Woo proves she is still the most notable Hallyu female star in Japan. Choi Ji Woo topped both the “degree of recognition” and “popularity” categories, beating other contenders like Kim Tae Hee, Lee Yeong Ae and Yoon Son Ha.
