The top two songs remain the same this week as Busker Busker’s “First Love” is No. 1 for a second week in a row with another very high score. This song again is nearly unanimous atop of many rankings. Lim Chang Jung’s “About Me” remains at No. 2. There are five new songs in the top 10 this week.  The highest brand new debut is Block B’s “Very Good” at No. 3.  This song is coming from Block B’s thi...

Weekly K-Pop Music Chart 2013 – October Week 2

There are big changes in the top 10 this week. Both the top two songs are coming from outside of the top 10 last week. Busker Busker’s “First Love” defeats Lim Chang Jung’s “About Me” to become our new No. 1 song. It marks the second time this year two non-idol artists claimed the top two spots on our chart. The last time was in July Week 3 when Dynamic Duo’s “BAAAM” won over Lee Seung Chul’s “My ...

Soyu and Mad Clown’s “Stupid In Love” repeats as No. 1 this week with an even higher score than last week. This song’s consistency across all rankings again proves to be the difference.  G-Dragon finally has a song in the top three this week as “Crooked” seems to be the song that stands out from his other title songs. “Crooked” moves up three spots to No. 2, quickly closing the gap with “Stupid In...

Weekly K-Pop Music Chart 2013 – September Week 4

A mild surprise at the top this week as a hip-hop ballad “Stupid In Love” by Sistar’s Soyu and rapper Mad Clown made a 21-spot jump all the way to become our new No. 1 song. Even more shocking is the margin of victory over former chart toppers Kara’s “Damaged Lady” and Sunmi’s “24 Hours,” which were No. 2 and 3 respectively this week. “Stupid In Love” was the only song to score over 900 points thi...

This week’s music chart was delayed due to the Chuseok holiday in Korea. Kara once again proves that they are the queens of our Soompi Chart. Their latest hit “Damaged Lady” moves up 11 notches to take over the No. 1 spot. Despite challenges from G-Dragon with multiple songs and also last week’s top three hits, Kara managed to hold off all of them and scored their sixth No. 1 song on our chart. “D...

Weekly K-Pop Music Chart 2013 – September Week 2

An unexpected song unseated our three week champion EXO’s “Growl” this week as Sunmi’s first solo track “24 Hours” went up six spots to become our new No. 1 song. Despite not yet winning in any music program or independent charts, the overall consistency of this song being ranked among the top songs in all our sources make it an easy winner this week. Congratulations to Sunmi. Moving up nine spots...

Weekly K-Pop Music Chart 2013 – September Week 1

EXO’s “Growl” is No. 1 for the third straight week, becoming the first song in three months to stay on top for three weeks.  The last song to accomplish this feat was Lee Hyori’s “Bad Girl.”  With “Growl” still winning in this week’s music shows and several challengers coming shorter than expected, it is possible that “Growl” will become the first song this year four weeks on top of our chart. It ...

EXO’s “Growl” becomes the first song in the last two months to spend more than one week on top of our chart. It repeats as No. 1 after sweeping the music show rankings again last week.  The competition is unreal this summer as all the big names in K-Pop are releasing new songs.  Some of the regular chart toppers can’t even reach No. 1. It’s good that at the end of summer we finally have a song tha...

Weekly K-Pop Music Chart 2013 – August Week 3

The top spot on our chart and many other music charts in Korea have been a game of musical chairs this summer. It is not a surprise that we have yet another new No. 1 song this week.    In a hotly contested week where the top six songs all scored over 800 points, f(x)’s “Rum Pum Pum Pum” is the only song with a score well over 900 points (963) and won easily.  This song debuted at No. 10 last week...
