Weekly Music Chart 2007 – May week 1

2007-05-09 05:33:58 2010-11-24 11:06:42

No. 1 song: SG Wannabe's "아리랑" (Arirang) remains No. 1 for the 2nd straight week. As expected, this song is growing stronger this week with a score of 950 points, nearly 100 more than its closest competition Epik High's "Love Love Love". Looks like this song will spend a few more weeks on top.

Biggest Mover of the week: Yoon Gun's "사랑으로 빚진 날들" (The Days Of Being In Debt Because Of Love) moves up 19 spots to No. 13 this week. The ex-Brown Eyes member continues his strong showing on music charts and album sales. Looks like this song will be in the top 10 next week.

Hot shot debut: Park Hyo Shin's "미워하자" (Let's hate) is our highest debut this week at No. 24. This song is the follow up hit to "추억은 사랑을 닮아" (Memories resemble love), which had been on the top 20 for many weeks.

New songs: We have 9 new songs and 2 re-entries this week.

Songs to watch out:

4. Yoon Ha – 비밀번호 486 (Secret Number 486) – After lurking under the top 10 for the past few weeks, this song finally made a big move, up 8 spots to No. 4 this week. With strong album sales scores to support plus Yoon Ha's high exposure and increasing popularity, this song have a good chance to challange for the top spot in the near future.

7. Evan – 남자도… 어쩔 수 없다 (Man…Are Unavoidable) – Same as Yoon Ha's song, this song made a moderate jump to the top 10 after spending a few weeks under it. This is the kind of song that the more you listen, the more you like it. Evan offers us a totally different style than his Click B days.

8. Suh Young Eun – 완소그대 (Completely Precious You) – Suh Young Eun scored another top 10 hit with this mid-tempo song on just the 2nd week on the chart. Since 2004, Suh Young Eun has at least one top 10 hit each year even though she doesn't come out to perform very often. This song is a happy love song that we don't see often in k-pop.

28. Gummy – 통증 (Pain) – Title song from the MBC drama H.I.T. Drama OST's are usually sung by lesser known singers, but this OST has Gummy and Superjunior participating. This ballad is more pop-oriented instead of Gummy's usual R&B style.

30. Lee Ki Chan – 세사람 (New Person) – Just like Park Hyo Shin, Lee Ki Chan also switched to a new song this week. This song replaced the former No. 1 song "미인" (A Beauty). It is another good ballad on his 9th album which is very successful.

32. Lee Juck – 다행이다 (To be fortunate) – After releasing Panic's 4th album last year, Lee Juck returned to his solo activity this year with his own 3rd album. This ballad is about being thankful for a love that strengthens even the most exhausted soul. Lee Juck's unique vocal creates a new paradigm for quality love songs.

33. MC The Max – 가슴아 그만해 (My Heart Cannot Go On Like This Any Longer) – After a lengthy contract dispute with their former company, MC The Max finally returns with their 5th album. In the past, they usually released their album in deep Winter, a perfect season for their sad ballads. This is another vintage sad rock ballad for the group, even though they are returning to their roots with more up-tempo rock songs on their new album, they are still playing safe with the title song releasing tunes that they were successful in the past.

36. Nam Gyu Ri – 깊은밤을날아서 (Flying Into Deep Night) – See Ya's beautiful lead lady released her 1st solo hit, from the movie "Wedding No No" starring Eugene. It is a remake of an old Lee Moon Sae song. Unlike See Ya's usual R&B style, this mid-tempo song is more pop-oriented, and we hear a different Nam Gyu Ri than in the group.

43. Beige – 그림자 (Shadow) – Another highly acclaimed new female ballad singer. She has very high TV exposure in recent weeks with this song on gayo shows. She demonstrated very good vocal skills with her live performances. Check her out if you haven't.
