Weekly Music Chart 2007 – September week 1

2007-09-04 19:25:12 2010-11-24 11:06:53

No. 1 song: See Ya scores their 2nd No. 1 song for their current album in "결혼할까요" (Shall we marry). A few weeks ago their title song "사랑의인사" (Love Greeting) also spent a week at No. 1. Last time two songs from the same album went to No. 1 on this chart dated back two years ago when Kim Jong Kook's 4th album scored "제자리걸음" (Walking from the same place) and "사랑스러워" (You are loveable) as No. 1 songs. "Shall We Marry" is also No. 1 on M!Countdown this week, further solidifies See Ya's claim to be Korea's top female group now.

Biggest Mover of the week: Shin Hye Sung's "첫사람" (First Person) is our biggest mover this week. Fans were disappointed that this song only debuted at No. 33 last week. But it moves up 27 spots to No. 6 this week. The lovely ballad is written by top songwriter Cho Young Soo (who happens to have 3 top 10 songs this week), whom Shin Hye Sung has collaborated with in Cho's "All Star" album at the beginning of this year. Lyrics is written by Yoon Sa Ra. This combination is often seen in Kim Jong Kook's songs. Lets see if it will help Shin Hye Sung to hit No. 1 this time.

Hot shot debut: Big Bang's "거짓말" (Lie) is our highest debut at No. 25 this week. Again, it may be lower than what fans expected. Next week when sales numbers begin to count (their mini-album has been number one on sales chart ever since its release), this song is going to make a big jump. No doubt they are one of the most popular boy bands in Korea now. The music video is about G. Dragon's character taking on a false murder accusation on behalf of his girlfriend and being hauled off to the authorities.

New songs: We have 4 new songs this week:

Songs to watch out:

2. Son Ho Young – 하늘에 내 마음이 (My Heart at the Sky) – Son Ho Young is looking for his first No. 1 song as a solo artist. This song is 40 points behind See Ya this week, and he should close the gap next week. The competition is picking up but the top 5 songs scores were still very weak so any songs have a chance to climb up to the top.

7. Zi-A – 물끄러미 (Absentmindedly) – Faceless singer Zi-A continues to amaze us with this song, moving up 3 more spots to No. 7. Surprisingly, the sales number of her single album "Voice of Heaven" is picking up now after almost 2 months of release. It indicates that more people are starting to recognize her.

10. MC Mong (feat. Kim Tae Woo) – So Fresh – Finally moves up to the top 10 this week. Despite not coming out to perform this digital single, "So Fresh" is one of the top songs among internet charts. In the past, MC Mong's rapping on ballads were always a hit, and this one is of no exception.

18. SNSD – 다시만난세계 (Into The New World) – Perhaps not moving up as fast as we expect, but the song debuts at No. 2 on M!Countdown this week, meaning that it will definitely move up further in next week's rankings. May be we'll see them in the top 10.

32. Park Sang Min – 서른이면 (When I am thirty) – With his trademark husky voice, veteran Park Sang Min is back on the chart with this ballad, moving up 15 spots. Park Sang Min recently released a single album "Max" and this is the title song.

34. Jang Hye Jin – 가라 사랑아 (Go Away Love) – One of the best female vocalists who is underrated, Jang Hye Jin is back with a special album "Tomboy". Unlike her previous hits which were mostly R&B ballads, this song is a up-tempo song that shows another side of the singer. She still teams up with songwriter Kim Do Hoon, who she works closely with in the past.

48. Mine – I Know – A highly recommended song which is very refreshing in style. If you are a fan of Jang Yeon Joo who has a similar style, you'll love this song. The melody is like a folk song which is very comfortable to listen to. This female singer Mine is different from a teenage singer MI:NE who debuted last year.
