Weekly Music Chart 2007 – October week 3

2007-10-24 06:23:11 2010-11-24 11:07:06
No. 1 song: Congratulations to Big Bang as their song "거짓말" (Lie) broke our chart record by becoming the first song ever to spend seven weeks at No. 1. Big Bang have amazingly overcome a lot of strong challengers every week. The top 5 songs remain unchanged this week. Each song has the potential to be the next No. 1 but Big Bang is just too strong. "Lie" has been No. 1 since the end of August. Almost two months later now, still nobody can overtake this song. ohmy.gif

Biggest Mover of the week: Not a lot of big movements this week. New boy band Cho Shin Sung’s (Supernova) "Hit" moves up 9 spots to No. 26 and is already the biggest mover in our chart. Cho Shin Sung is going to release their 1st album next week, and we expect this song to move up higher with the album release. The MV of this song stars Eugene and also members from the group.

Hot shot debut: Big Mama’s "배반" (Betray) is our highest debut at No. 24. This is Big Mama’s 1st album since leaving YG entertainment. They already got off to a good start, topping the album sales chart for 2 weeks. This song is a more pop-oriented ballad compared to previous Big Mama hits which was heavily R&B. Again we have yet another song produced by Cho Young Soo, which increases the chances of the song being a mega hit.

New songs: We have 8 new songs and 1 re-entry this week.

Songs to watch out:

8. Super Junior – 돈 돈 ! (Don’t Don) – Doesn’t move up as much as expected, as this song is still not ranked very high on most internet charts yet. Also, some of the music shows were not airing in these few weeks and it affects new songs like this one. But still we expect this song as one of the many challengers to Big Bang’s reign as No. 1 next week.

13. ERU – 둘이라서 (Because it’s the two of us) – Another song that is moving up slower than expected. But this one may be due to disappointing album sales so far. However, ERU’s ballads in the past took quite a few weeks to warm up listeners, and this song may be no different. Expect it to be in the top 10 next week.

27. Drunken Tiger – 8:45 Heaven – The title of this hip-hop song is very meaningful to Tiger JK, as he sings about the feelings of losing his grandmother. The title refers to Tiger JK’s grandmother’s time of passing. sad.gif

33. Monday Kiz – 투면한 눈물 (Invisible Tears) – From the R&B duo’s single album "Incompletion". The title "Incompletion" was because Monday Kiz cannot find the recording of a full album due to member Kim Min Soo’s car accident. They still decide to release a single album with the songs they already recorded. This song is chosen as the title song and we can find their similar R&B style and good harmony.

34. Jang Yoon Jung – 첫사랑 (First Love) – The queen of trot is back. This time she brings us a ballad that sounds like a pop oldie of generations ago. With traditional instruments arranging, it brings back a lot of memories from older fans.
