Actors Jung Woo-sung and Cha Seung-won have been cast as the main characters in the sequel to IRIS, last year’s hit action drama.
According to the producers at Taewon Entertainment, this sequel with be named “Athena” and will follow the the original series’ theme of terrorist attacks on Korea and the rest of the world.
Jung Woo-sung will play “Lee Jung-woo,” a special agent for the national intelligence agency. Opposing him will be Cha Seung-won, who will play the role of Son-hyuk, the leader of a terrorist group.
They plan to begin prduction for “Athena” in June in Italy and Switzerland, followed by stops in Singapore New Zealand and several other countries as well.
The current plan is for the new season to begin airing in the second half of this year.
For Jung this will be his comeback to TV for the first time in 15 years, in which he starred in “1.5” in 1996. He appeared in hit films such as “Beat” and “The Good, the Bad, and the Weird”
Cha, who began acting in 1997, has appeared in a number of dramas and movies including “Kick the Moon,” “Jailbreaker,” and “Secret.”
