JYJ’s Junsu will star in the upcoming musical “Tears of Heaven”, which will open its curtains next February.
The musical is set during the Vietnam War. Junsu will play a Korean soldier who is dispatched to fight and falls in love with a Vietnamese woman. He does everything he can to help her.
The cast will also include American theater actor Brad Little, who has starred in many Broadway musicals, including “Phantom of the Opera”. During his scenes, all the actors will speak English when they converse with him.
“Tears of Heaven” is an original production which features music by veteran Broadway composer Frank Wildhorn. It will be directed by Gabriel Berry, who produced the film “Sweeney Todd”, and co-headed by musical producer Seol & Company and Creative Production Co., a subsidiary of Core Contents Media.
It took three and a half years to prepare the musical, and required research visits to Hungary, United States, Canada, Czech Republic, and Japan.
The musical will premiere at the Main Hall of the National Theater of Korea on February 1.
