Starting on March 7th, the ads created by JYJ’s fan club can be spotted on screen doors in 21 different subway stations, including Apgujung, Hongdae, Jamshil, Sunreung, Shinchon, Gundae, 3rd Jongno, Kangbyun, and Chungmuro. The ads will remain posted for a month.
The majority of these subway ads, similar to the previous bus ads, read “JYJ, WE WILL SUPPORT YOUR YOUTH.” Among them, the ad in Hongdae University station that reads “Kim Jaejoong, Park Yoochun, Kim Junsu, Take a Ride on the Express Train to Major Network Channels” is eye-catching.
Prior to this subway ad campaign, JYJ fans had launched a bus ad campaign that started from January 27th and lasted for a month. For the campaign, the fans created and put up bus ads that read, “JYJ we support your youth” on 120 bus in Seoul and major cities throughout Korea (Gwangju, Daejun, Daegu, Busan).
JYJ fans got together and voluntarily started to create ads that would support JYJ because they came to a conclusion that JYJ was facing restrictions in terms of music shows appearances on the major broadcasting channels (KBS, SBS, MBC), despite their active promotional activities and involvement in musicals and dramas.
JYJ fans raised approximately $143,000 USD for these ads, and currently there is around $71,000 USD left after the fan club’s investment into their initial bus ad campaign. The remaining balance will be used for the subway ad campaign.
