Kwon Sang Woo and Jung Ryeo Won are cast in the film “Pain” (Tong Jeung) which is director Kwak Kyung Taek’s tenth movie. According to the story, the leading man in the film is bruised but he can’t feel the pain, while the leading female is weak enough to be broken by small touches.
A man who does not understand pain, a girl who knows pain too well, Kwon Sang Woo and Jung Ryeo Won are these two individuals. Kwon Sang Woo looks like he just got out of the military and his clothes are disparaged, while Jung Ryeo Won is wearing a long dress that portrays here as a lovely girl.
This is the setting of the set for “Pain.” Kwon Sang Woo plays “Nam Soon” who is a man that lives a meaningless life because he cannot feel any pain. On the day of the filming he was hit by a motorcycle and was thrown down to the ground, but he got up as if nothing happened. The cyclist asks Nam Soon, “Are you alright?” “You’re not going to report me right?” and Nam soon brushes off the cyclist with his hand and silently walks away. Throughout the rehearsals and the re-filming, Kwon Sang Woo keeps hitting the floor with a thud but he is expressionless.
On the same street where Nam Soon got into an accident, “Dong Hyun” (Played by Jung Ryeo Won) is picking out clothes while she thinks about Nam Soon. She is a direct opposite of Nam Soon because she has a disease that makes her more susceptible to pain. She is very aggressive and passionate. Even though she is carrying a heavy bag as she passes by, when she sees a t-shirt that looks like it would fit Nam Soon, she goes into the store and matches it up with the owner to see if it would fit Nam Soon. These two individuals are exact opposites, and if it is true that opposites attract, the two are fated to fall in love.
Kwon Sang Woo is a well-known actor in Korea who had various roles in dramas and films. His popular movies were “My Tutor Friend,” and “Sad Love Story,” but his character in SBS’s drama “Stairway to Heaven” really boosted his popularity.
Jung Ryeo-Won was a member of the group Chakra but after the group disbanded she moved on to acting and modeling. She is well known for her role in “My Lovely Sam Soon.”
