Kim Bum, most known for playing the Casanova So Yi Jung of the F4 in 2009’s highly popular “Boys Over Flowers” will finally come back on the small screen. The actor co-stars with Jung Woo Sung and Han Ji Min in the upcoming “Padam Padam.”
“I lost 11 kg and worked out to prepare for the drama,” Kim Bum said at the drama’s press conference held in Seoul on November 30. “It’s because the guardian angel Lee Kook Soo role I’m playing requires me to bare my body a lot. Lee Kook Soo sleeps without a top on since he believes that’s when he grows his wings.”
The actor said he dieted on potatoes and bananas, combining it with aerobic exercise and training to achieve his current physical state. He also revealed that since it was a unique role, he watched foreign movies featuring angels to study their gestures in the act of growing wings. Among those he drew inspiration from are John Travolta in “Michael” and the French film “Ricky.”
Kim Bum’s Lee Kook Soo role is the guardian angel to Yang Kang Chil, played by Jung Woo Sung.
The younger actor had earlier said he decided to take on the role because he would like to work with director Kim Kyu Tae and scenarist Noh Hee Kyung. However, he has also built a good working relationship with his senior actors, Jung Woo Sung and Han Ji Min.
“He always has a charming smile on set, creating a good atmosphere,” Han Ji Min said. Kim Bum, along with cast and crew were caught on photographs in-between filming scenes and have even celebrated Han Ji Min’s birthday on set.
“I’m on good terms with the cast of ‘Boys Over Flowers.’ I actually just talked to Min Ho yesterday,” he said. “I’m in the same agency as Park Min Young, so I do know her and about their relationship as well.”
“Padam Padam” is Kim Bum’s first project since 2010’s “The Woman Who Wants to Marry.” The drama begins broadcast on December 5, launching the new cable channel jTBC.
