“All About My Wife” is center of commotion at Chungmuro, Korea’s Hollywood.
According to June 7th final total box office report by Korean Film Council, the “All About My Wife” amassed 149,551 moviegoers in just one day on Korean Memorial Day. The total number of viewers has now reached a staggering number of 3,074,372.
The film has set a record for breaking 3 million viewers in just 21 days, surpassing “Architecture 101” six days, and “Sunny” three days before they reached the record.
The numbers for “All About My Wife” truly stand out, especially amidst recent Hollywood blockbusters such as “Avengers” or “Men in Black 3.” Despite tough competition, the film seems to have gained success by the buzz created among moviegoers.
This romantic comedy centers around a timid, divorce-seeking husband who instructs a “casanova” to seduce his wife. Im Soo Jung plays the irritated, demanding wife, casting away her usual innocent image.
Netizen cheered on.”How can this be! ‘All About My Wife’ breaking 3 million?”, “I’m so proud. Broken through 3 million even with all the Hollywood movies. It set a tremendous record.”
Meanwhile, the film is among five Korean films released this year that has broken this record. “Dancing Queen,” “Broken Arrow,” “Nameless Gangster,” and “Architecture 101” previously amassed 3 million viewers.
