Earlier today, upcoming SBS drama, “To the Beautiful You” unveiled new teaser stills of its female lead Sulli from f(x). In the stills, Sulli has a tense one-on-one moment with a fellow student, played by Might Mouth’s Sangchu, in the boys’ bathroom.
According to the producers, the shoot took place last month at a bathroom in Jamsil. Filming lasted more than 12 hours, going from 9AM to 2AM the next day. The cast and crew filmed for 15 hours straight, and the staff were amused to see Sulli slightly embarrassed about recording in the boys’ bathroom.
Based on the popular Japanese manga “Hana Kimi,” “To the Beautiful You” is the first TV drama produced by SM Entertainment’s new video contents division, SM Culture and Contents. Jeon Ki Sang, who is no stranger to producing dramas that are based on Japanese manga – having produced “Boys over Flowers” in 2009 – will direct the series.
The romantic-comedy is about Goo Jae Hee (Sulli), an extreme fan girl of champion high-jumper Kang Tae Joon (SHINee’s Minho), who tries to make a comeback from a career-threatening injury. To help revive his career, Jae Hee impersonates a guy to attend Tae Joon’s all boys high school. The original manga had a Japanese drama created in 2007 and a Taiwanese version produced in 2006. Both versions were extremely popular, and many international fans are showing great interest in the Korean remake.
Viewers can catch Sulli’s bathroom face-off with Sangchu in the pilot episode on August 15.
