Girls’ Generation has been appointed as ambassadors for the blind. In a recent fundraising campaign hosted by QTV, member Sooyoung in particular was actively involved in promoting the advocacy. Along with Sooyoung, members Taeyeon, Seohyun and Tiffany werenamed ambassadors at the blindness eradication headquarters in April.
“I hope we help a bit through this campaign to those who are suffering discomfort because of blindness,” Sooyoung was quoted as saying. “As they struggle in a world of darkness, we want to communicate to the world and raise awareness for the prevention of diseases that cause blindness. We ask everyone to join.”
Sooyoung has put up autographed items on the QTV web site for auction, which will begin on January 1, 2013, running through January 19. The proceeds of the sale will go into research on cure and prevention of visually debilitating diseases, including those that affect the retina.
Meanwhile, Sooyoung and the rest of Girls’ Generation are set to launch their domestic comeback with “I Got a Boy” on January 1.
