Kim Soo Hyun spent his 26th birthday on the set of his drama “Man from the Stars.”
The actor, whose birthday was on the February 16, recently uploaded a picture of himself on his Weibo account on February 17, accompanied by the message “I spent my birthday filming ‘Man from the Stars’~ Thank you to all the Chinese fans who wished me Happy Birthday.”
In the picture, Kim Soo Hyun waves at the camera with one hand, while he holds the script for Episode 18 of “Man from the Stars” in the other hand. His script is marked with a large “Do” across the front page, for his character’s name Do Min Joon.
SBS Wednesday-Thursday drama “Man from the Stars” has contributed to the rise of Kim Soo Hyun’s popularity in China, and on February 14, his fans took out a full page advertisement, wishing him a Happy Birthday.
Meanwhile, a birthday present from Keyeast senior actor Bae Yong Joon in the form of a miyeok guk (seaweed soup) food truck arrived at the filming set on February 16. A staff member commented, “A miyeok guk food truck arrived on set in the middle of filming. The cast and crew of about a 150 shared a hearty meal together. Now and then we get snack or health food trucks from actors and fans, but miyeok guk trucks are rare.” (Miyeok guk or seaweed soup is eaten on one’s birthday.)
Kim Soo Hyun’s agency, Keyeast, revealed, “Bae Yong Joon heard that his junior Kim Soo Hyun would be spending his birthday on set, so he prepared this meal so that he could enjoy some warm miyeok guk together with the rest of the drama’s cast and crew.”
Kim Soo Hyun conveyed via his agency, “I would like to sincerely thank my sunbae-nim for his present. I will work harder in the time remaining to repay him through my acting.”
“Man from the Stars” will be adding one episode, bringing the total to 21 episodes. The drama will air its last episode on February 27.
