tvN has released the poster and a teaser image for its upcoming Friday-Saturday drama “Gapdong.”
“Gapdong” is a 20-episode crime thriller set against the background of a serial murder in the fictitious city of Iltan. The drama is centered on detective Ha Moo Yeom, and the intricately entangled relationships between the characters associated with the prime suspect, referred to as Gapdong by the police, of the serial murders that occurred 20 years ago.
Ha Moo Yeom is a detective at the Iltan Police Station’s Violent Crimes Unit. His father became the principal suspect in the Iltan serial murder case 20 years ago, and was driven to suicide after being pressurized by the police. Ha Moo Yeom has struggled with finding Gapdong over the years, and just when the statute of limitations on the case is about to expire, evidence that Gapdong is still alive after all these years appears before Moo Yeom. He begins his battle against Gapdong once again.
Yoon Sang Hyun’s portrayal of Moo Yeom will have to reflect Moo Yeom’s deep solitude and hurt, as well as feelings of anger towards Gapdong. In the released poster, the actor sports a short haircut and an intense expression in his eyes. The meaningful text, “Thank you… So you were alive,” hints at Moo Yeon’s wrath.
PD in charge of “Gapdong,” Kang Hee Jun of CJ E&M stated, “In the course of researching his character ‘Ha Moo Yeom,’ Yoon Sang Hyun had a discussion with the director and writer, which resulted in him cutting his hair short in order to be more immersed in his role. He’s not only changed his appearance, but he’s displaying a surprising level of concentration and is fully absorbed in filming.”
Yoon Sang Hyun reunites with PD Jo Soo Won of “I Hear Your Voice” in this drama. “Gapdong” will be written by Kwon Eun Mi of “Royal Family,” and will star Yoon Sang Hyun, Sung Dong Il, Kim Min Jung, Lee Joon and Kim Ji Won.
“Gapdong” follows after “Emergency Couple” on Fridays and Saturdays on cable network tvN. It premieres on April 11 at 8:40 PM KST.
