SM Entertainment announced today that Super Junior member Sungmin has given up on the final round of the application process to become a conscripted policeman as part of his mandatory military service: “Sungmin did not take part in the final round of application to be part of the┬áSeoul Police Special Promotional Unit.”

Early in February, it was announced that Sungmin, along with Choi Jin Hyuk, Yoo Ah In, and Supernova‘s Sungje had auditioned to enlist as a conscripted policeman. While Sungmin had passed the first round of auditions, it seems in the end, Sungmin decided not to enlist as a conscripted policeman or he is postponing it for next year.

For now, as SM Entertainment announced, Sungmin will be “focusing on Super Junior’s album and musical activities this year.”
