Actor Ryu Seung Ryong will be joining idol-actress Suzy in an upcoming film titled “Dorihwaga.” According to sources, the two will share a teacher-pupil relationship. Miss A’s Suzy was recently cast as the lead actress for the film.
Ryu Seung Ryong’s agency Prain TPC announced, “Ryu Seung Ryong, who is currently in the midst of filming a movie called ‘Guest,’ has decided to go with ‘Dorihwaga’ as his next project.” The actor confirmed for the movie on June 16.
“Dorihwaga” is a melodrama about a famous pansori writer and teacher from the 19th century who writes a pansori based on a beautiful student of his. (Pansori is a form of traditional Korean musical storytelling with a drummer and vocalist.) Ryu Seung Ryong will be playing the role of Shin Jae Hyo and Suzy the role of Jin Chae Sun. Lee Jong Pil will be directing the movie, following his project “Born to Sing.”
Suzy has been practicing pansori for the last two months for her role in the film. “Dorihwaga” will mark Suzy’s return to films after the release of “Architecture 101.”
With a premiere date set for next year, the filming preparations for “Dorihwaga” have begun.
