It was recently revealed that the secondary questioning by police regarding Kim Hyun Joong’s alleged assault case will not be occurring until after the Chuseok holiday. A representative at the Seoul Songpa Police Department revealed to Star News on September 7, “It is realistically difficult to have the secondary questioning before Chuseok. If the two parties compromise before that then the need for questioning disappears. However, if the conflict continues, then his questioning will be unavoidable since we would need his statement to find the truth in our investigation.” The representative continued, “We are also considering the possibility of a cross-examination, as well, if it becomes necessary.”
Meanwhile, Kim Hyun Joong was charged with the assault of his now ex-girlfriend. She claimed that between May and July of this year he had assaulted her physically four times. The girlfriend, referred to as “A,” submitted a formal complaint to the police this past August 20.
As a result Kim Hyun Joong had to go to the police department this past September 2 to give his statement. According to the police officer that questioned Kim Hyun Joong that day, Kim Hyun Joong only admitted to one out of the four incidents he had been accused of. He had admitted to a “light physical altercation,” referring to one of the injuries that ended up requiring a two-week healing period. He did not admit to two incidents of assault and the rib fracture that required a six-week healing period.
