If you think Kim Soo Hyun would be the most popular Korean male celebrity in China considering how his drama has gotten the whole country hooked, then you have to think again. Apparently, “Running Man” star and singer Kim Jong Kook is even more popular than the “Man from the Stars” actor in China!
According to a statement made by agency Urban Works Ent. on November 18, Kim Jong Kook is ranked second most popular male in the portal site Baidu, next to singer-actor Li Yi Feng.
While other celebrities including Taiwanese pop star Jay Chou and former EXO members Luhan and Kris also made the ranking, Kim Jong Kook coming in second place is making even more people take notice as he is the highest ranked Korean celebrity to be included in the list.
Kim Jong Kook has captured the attention of Chinese fans by making a guesting on the first episode of “Run, Brother,” the Chinese version of the popular SBS variety show, “Running Man.”
The singer also participated in the “Shanghai Bubu 2014 Music Festival” and the CCTV show “Ding Ge Long Dong Qiang.”
“As Kim Jong Kook is getting more popular in the Greater China region as the days pass, he is preparing not only local activities but foreign activities as well to repay his international fans,” said Urban Works Ent., hinting that there will be more foreign activities for the singer in the future.
Congrats, Kim Jong Kook!
