Despite taking on the complex character of brooding prosecutor Park Jung Hwan, Kim Rae Won is proving he is an acting heavyweight with his subtle expressions and ability to eloquently communicate the emotions of his character, who has been backed into a corner with a terminal illness. Despite the drama’s somber subject, Kim Rae Won has been able to carry the storyline with ease.
Kim Ah Joong has also been receiving high praise for her portrayal of idealistic prosecutor Shin Ha Kyung. The actress, for whom “Punch” is her first small screen project in three years, is proving she hasn’t lost her edge with her complete embodiment of her multi-faceted character. Kim Ah Joong captures the various attributes of Shin Ha Kyung, including her objectiveness in evaluating cases and her passionate refusal to compromise her ideals of justice, even in the face of her ex-husband Park Jung Hwan, who has fallen into the ways of corruption.
“Punch,” which tells the story of the last six months of Park Jung Hwan (Kim Rae Won)’s life, airs every Monday and Tuesday at 10 p.m. KST on SBS.
