Former Girls’ Generation member Jessica is rumored to have terminated her contract with SM Entertainment.
The rumor is based on a Weibo post made by Jessica’s official fan club in China, Jung SooYeon Bar, on January 28, which states that according to Jessica’s Hong Kong PR manager Mr. Ting, Jessica’s contract with SM has been terminated.
After announcing her departure from Girls’ Generation in September, Jessica has been focusing on building her fashion brand BLANC & ECLARE and promoting herself in China and Hong Kong. Her activities have been managed by well-known PR manager Real Ting, who is the source quoted by Jung SooYeon Bar. Real Ting is the co-founder and director at Collaboration Group, a Hong Kong-based PR and marketing company with a large network of celebrities and socialites in the China region, including Jessica.
On the same day, Jessica attended an event organized by Yves Saint Laurent Beauté Hong Kong x Google Glass in Hong Kong. Wearing a chic yet sexy black-and-white outfit, she tried out YSL’s new line of lipsticks on stage with the guidance of a makeup artist, followed by a short Q&A and photo session with the press.
While Jessica is no longer a member of Girls’ Generation, she has stayed under SM Entertainment to pursue individual activities. The recent rumor, however, has raised questions about the current status of her contract with the agency.
SM has yet to respond to the rumors.
