Part of being a popular celebrity in South Korea means having people watch your every move, reporting on the places you visit, the things you wear and the friends you have. Out of all the rumors, the ones that tend to spread the most are ones related to dating. In the past, there have been a multitude of celebrity dating rumors which have spread online. Some of them have been seemingly far-fetched, while others appeared to have been true. The idea of some of the rumored couples proved to be popular with certain fans and many people were left hoping the rumors would be confirmed. Check out this list of “7 Dating Rumors We Wish Had Been True.”
Rumors about these two started floating around as early as 2010. Even though they denied it and claimed to only be very close friends, the rumors still continued to spread after they were spotted having coffee together in Japan. Netizens often claimed to have seen the two eating out at restaurants, as well as going to the movies together. Both of their labels denied the rumors but this is definitely one of the couples we wish had been confirmed as having a real life relationship. After all, wouldn’t it have been great to see a JYP–SM couple?
Seulong (2AM) and Sohee (Wonder Girls)
Back in 2012, news suddenly broke that Seulong and Sohee had been caught dating. Netizens immediately started their investigations into the matter and found various posts and things which seemed to prove the couple had been dating since 2010. JYP Entertainment immediately addressed the rumors and denied they were true. They said the two artists were nothing more than close friends and get along very well, as do the rest of their artists in the company. Despite the denial, there are still fans who believe they were in a long term relationship at the time.
Lee Joon and HyunA (4Minute)
During the promotions for Hyuna’s song “Bubble Pop,” rumors started making the rounds online saying that she was dating the singer and actor, Lee Joon. After filming a music video together, the two sat next to each other during their flight back home. The flight attendant on board observed their friendly and comfortable manner with each other and began a rumor saying they were dating. The rumors were denied however and even two years later, the former MBLAQ member addressed the rumors once more and cleared up any remaining doubt as to their validity. Wouldn’t they have made a super sexy couple though?
Victoria (f(x)) and Zhou Mi (Super Junior M)
Victoria has had several different dating rumors over the years. At one point, netizens even caught the reflection of a man on her spoon when she posted a picture of her meal on SNS (And no, I’m not making this up. This is actually how far netizens can go!). Due to the rumors that followed, SM Entertainment stepped in and confirmed the man eating with her was Changmin of TVXQ. Despite a lot of rumors about her relationship with him, there are other fans who hope that she will date Zhou Mi instead. There have also been numerous rumors regarding their relationship , especially since he has been very open with his friendship and affection for Victoria. Once, he even tweeted a picture of them holding hands. The two have a lot in common since they are both natives of China who came to Korea to pursue their dreams, so it seems like this is one couple who would be perfect for each other in real life!
Lee Gook Joo and Jin (BTS)
Last year, this popular funny girl talked freely about a relationship she had with an idol trainee who was her junior by six years. He was described as tall and handsome. Rumors really started heating up as fans noticed that Jin always mentioned Lee Gook Joo in the “thanks to” section of their albums. In an industry that is very superficial when it comes to appearances, Lee Gook Joo shows that she has a lot of undeniable charms which attracted her flower-boy ex-boyfriend. Was that guy Jin though? Whether the rumors are true or false, this is actually one couple I really hope will be confirmed in the future.
D.O (EXO) and Sojin (Girl’s Day)
Rumors concerning this couple are quite recent compared to others on this list. Netizens began investigating the rumors and found pictures and posts that they claim are proof of their relationship. Some pictures appear to show the singers wearing matching couple items (even rings) which led many of his fans to get angry. When Sojin uploaded a picture of her nail art, one of her fingernails read “I <3 DO.” She received so much criticism for this that she ended up making her account private. Neither of their labels have addressed the rumors, but apart from the bad behavior of some of his fans, most can agree that they would make an adorable couple if the rumors were ever confirmed.
Park Yoochun (JYJ) and Park Min Young
When these two stars acted together in the drama “Sungkyunkwan Scandal,” rumors really started flying in reference to the relationship between the two leads. Both stars went on to deny the rumors, saying that fans had perhaps just gotten too into their onscreen romance. Despite their denials, many people still thought there was an obvious chemistry between the two and that they were secretly dating. Whether it was an onscreen romance only, many fans were still hoping to see this pair end up together off screen as well.
In the past few years, there have been numerous dating rumors involving the popular, young singers and actors of today. While most of the relationships couldn’t be proven and were instead denied by their labels, these are still a few of the couples we wish had been real and not rumors only. What about you?
