It has been revealed that shortly after his debut, HIGH4‘s Alex obtained Korean citizenship.
Born in New York, Alex is the oldest member of HIGH4 with which he debuted in April of 2014 with “Not Spring, Love, or Cherry Blossoms” featuring IU. At 22 years old, he officially obtained on August 4 of the same year a Korean citizenship, with which comes a mandatory duty to serve in the military.
Alex explained through his management agency, “My parents and I gave it a lot of thought after it was decided that I would become a member of HIGH4. I could keep my American citizenship and work in Korea with a visa, but as I lived in Korea while preparing to debut as a singer, I got to understand and love a lot of things [about Korea]. To achieve my dream of living in Korea as a Korean and to let many people around the world know about Korea as part of a Korean group, getting Korean citizenship was an obvious decision.”
Meanwhile, HIGH4 released a Chinese version of “Not Spring, Love, or Cherry Blossoms” on May 27, followed by a fresh single entitled “Baby Boy” on June 4.
