Ballad queen Younha recently participated in a photo shoot with bnt International, her first magazine pictorial in two years. Famous for her clear, ringing voice and emotional lyrics, she shares in the accompanying interview her thoughts about her new album and her busy year.
Although it has been a while since her last pictorial, the songstress looks natural and relaxed in creamy knits and turtlenecks and long coats in pastel and checkered shades. The dusty piano, some faded records, and an old-fashioned telephone lend the whole photo shoot a vintage vibe.
“I was the one who asked him,” Younha says on her collaboration with Akdong Musician’s Lee Chan Hyuk. “Ever since I saw him on ‘K-Pop Star,’ I thought that I’d like to work with him someday. Since my voice is similar to Lee Su Hyun [Lee Chan Hyuk’s sister and the other half of Akdong Musician], I thought that it would be a good match. He’s amazing now, but I think he will one day become a producer that shapes music history.”
The soloist also spoke up about her appearance on “King of Mask Singer.” “At first, I didn’t think much of it,” she says. “I was under a lot of psychological pressure around that time but ‘King of Mask Singer’ helped me overcome it.”
Younha is currently acting in the musical “Cinderella” as the titular character and is preparing for her end-of-year concert. “It will be a concert that you will regret missing,” she concludes confidently.
