Actor Ahn Jae Hyun will be starring in the next season of “New Journey to the West” in the place of Lee Seung Gi, who is currently in the army.

A representative from tvN told MBN Star on the morning of February 19, “Ahn Jae Hyun is currently staying in China to film ‘New Journey to the West.’”

Kang Ho Dong, Eun Ji Won, and Lee Soo Geun left for Chengdu, China on the morning of February 18, while Ahn Jae Hyun left afterwards with PD Na Young Suk, who had to attend a press conference for the new season of “Youth Over Flowers.”

The first season of “New Journey to the West” followed Lee Seung Gi, Kang Ho Dong, Eun Ji Won, and Lee Soo Geun as they completed missions in Xi’an, China. The four stars were all members of the cast of “2 Days & 1 Night” during its golden era.

Meanwhile, Lee Seung Gi enlisted in the army for his mandatory military service on February 1, and is expected to be discharged on October 31, 2017. Lee Soo Geun, Kang Ho Dong, and Eun Ji Won hosted a farewell party for him prior to his enlistment.
