It’s reported that the group performs a medley they’ve prepared just for “Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook,” featuring songs by youthful girl groups including S.E.S, Fin.K.L, Girls’ Generation, A Pink, GFRIEND, and more. They put their own special MAMAMOO spin on the tracks, which impresses the audience and Yoo Hee Yeol himself.
Yoo Hee Yeol says, “You called it a ‘youthful girl group medley,’ but MAMAMOO’s songs were inserted here and there as well. Do you think of yourselves as a youthful girl group?”
It’s reported that Moonbyul replies, “I don’t think MAMAMOO is a group that can be put in one mold. Today we tried a youthful concept, but tomorrow we could try a sexy concept again.” Hwasa jokes, “The problem is that even if we do a youthful concept we don’t seem youthful, and if we do a sexy concept we don’t seem sexy.”
MAMAMOO is known as being composed of four members that are all talented in terms of vocals, rapping, and performance. On the show, the members explain their roles in the group, with Moonbyul’s roles being rap and performance, Wheein’s vocals and performance, Hwasa’s vocals and rap, and Solar’s vocals and leader.
Solar says, “As the leader, if the group members are uncomfortable about something, I act as our representative and put forward suggestions.” When asked what the most recent proposal she had to put forward was, Solar replies, “I petitioned to find out if it was okay if we wore slippers in the dressing room.”
It’s said that MAMAMOO also has the audience in stitches when they perform as two sub-units on the show, with Moonbyul and Solar forming the hip hop unit “Moon and Sunrise” and Hwasa and Wheein doing their own “R-rated” performance. Yoo Hee Yeol reportedly tells them, “I’d accept both groups into my agency Antenna Music.”
