If you didn’t already know, many of your favorite idols dabble in gaming off-stage. More often than not, they’re playing League of Legends, a multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game that has dominated the PC bangs (Internet cafes) in Korea for the past few years. In fact, Super Junior Heechul has been known as a long-time LoL fan, and even once participated in a match against SKT1, last year’s LoL World Champions. EXO’s Baekhyun is also quite the fanboy – if you’ve followed his V app broadcasts, you would know that Baekhyun is a confident ADC main (guys, he owns Pulsefire Ezreal), even though his abilities are a little bit questionable considering he’s lost both of his games on stream.
Meet the Immortals, a professional League of Legends eSports team consisting of Huni (Top), Reignover (Jungle), Pobelter (Mid), Wildturtle (ADC) and Adrian (Support) that recently finished their regular season (split) in the NALCS with a dominating 16-2 record. Soompi got an unique opportunity to sit down with the team this past KCON, and we made these professional gamers (and their Team Manager Dodo8) react to a whole lotta K-pop. Here’s how it went down:
It all started with a lot of confusion.
Especially when you see N posing with a big bottle.
But soon it turned into a low-key Jackson fanboy session.
Basically they acknowledged this song was a bop.
Literally Adrian is all of us when we first saw this music video.
Same, Adrian, same.
This will forever be known as that one time Pobelter tried to show off his Korean. It almost worked.
And of course, they misheard what we ALL misheard.
And then, out of nowhere, Pobelter presents an oddly accurate analysis of Jungkook.
By the end, we’re 99% sure Pobelter became BTS trash.
Although the players already knew TWICE, we challenged them to react as though like they didn’t. They failed miserably.
Especially Adrian at the sight of Tzuyu:
(He took a selfie with her later on that day that are #goals)
But still someone had to ask the important questions:
But as it turns out, there was a moral after all.
Welcome to the K-pop fandom, Immortals!
