Winners Of The 14th Korean Music Awards

Members of the Korean music industry got together to celebrate some of the the past year’s top talent and releases at the 14th Korean Music Awards!

The award ceremony was held on February 28 in Seoul, and was hosted by Soran’s Go Young Bae.

Singer Jay Park received two awards during the evening, both for Musician of the Year and Best R&B and Soul Album for his 2016 full album “Everything You Wanted.” Fellow nominees for Musician of the Year included Danpyunsun and the Sailors, Second Moon, Im In Gun, and Jambinai.

Hit indie duo Bolbbalgan4 won Song of the Year for their track “Galaxy.”  Nominees for this award also included TWICE’s “Cheer Up,” Wonder Girls’ “Why So Lonely,” 9 and the Numbers’ “Ellice Islands (Song for Tuvalu),” and Jun Bum Sun and the Yangbans’ “Revolution.”

The Album of the Year award went to Jo Dong Jin for his album “As a Tree.” Albums in the running for this category this year included releases by ABTB, Danpyunsun and the Sailors, bahngbek, and Wings of the ISANG.

Wonder Girls received the Best Pop Song award for their track “Why So Lonely,” while BewhY was given the Best Rap and Hip-Hop Song Award for “Forever.”

Best Dance and Electronic Album Award: Kirara – “Moves”

Best Metal and Hardcore Album Award: Remnants of the Fallen – “Shadow Walk”

Best Modern Rock Song Award: 9 and the Numbers – “Ellice Islands (Song for Tuvalu)”

Best Modern Rock Album Award: Wings of the ISANG – “Stream of Consciousness”

Best Rap and Hip-Hop Song Award: BewhY – “Forever (Produced by GRAY)”

Best Rap and Hip-Hop Album Award: Hwaji – “Zissou”

Best Pop Song Award: Wonder Girls – “Why So Lonely”

Best Pop Album Award: Jo Dong Jin – “As a Tree”

Best Rock Song Award: Jun Bum Sun and the Yangbans – “Revolution”

Best Rock Album Album: ABTB – “Attraction Between Two Bodies”

Achievement Award: Kim Hong Tak

Committee Choice Special Award: Yoon Min Suk, and Musicians who took part in “Gentrification”

Rookie of the Year Award: Silica Gel

Musician of the Year Award: Jay Park

Song of the Year Award: Bolbbalgan4’s “Galaxy”

Album of the Year Award: Jo Dong Jin’s “As a Tree”

Jay Park was unable to attend the awards, but he posted on his Instagram to express his thanks.

Former Wonder Girls members Sunmi and Yeeun also posted on Instagram to say thank you for the Best Pop Song Award.
