In a recent interview on April 2, NCT’s Mark shared his thoughts on his experience competing in “High School Rapper.” “For the past two months on ‘High School Rapper,’ I was able to show a different side of me. It was a really amazing opportunity for me,” he said.
“This is my last year in high school, so this was my chance to express my thoughts and feelings as a student. I went into the program with the purpose of learning, and as a result, I was able to improve my skills. I will look back on this experience as a memorable time in my life when I felt new emotions and was challenged by new experiences,” he commented.
Through the show, Mark proved his abilities as a rapper. He did not make any mistakes and showed consistent improvement through the progression of the show. As a result, he earned the respect of other rappers and advanced to the final round of the competition.
“I specifically enjoyed being around people my age and sharing my passion for music. Both the camaraderie and fierce competition helped me stay motivated and improve. From now on, I want to take more risks and attempt a wider genre of music,” said the rapper.
Mark competed on “High School Rapper” while also partaking in his promotional obligations under NCT 127 and NCT DREAM. Although he was at a disadvantage due to his busy schedule, he was able to rock the competition by practicing in between his short breaks.
“It was really difficult to prepare myself for both NCT activities and ‘High School Rapper,’ but I was able to make it work thanks to the help and support from my family, NCT members, the company, and my fans,” said Mark. “I also want to thank my peers and mentors on the show for being so great,” he said.
Often times, idol rappers are perceived as unskilled. However, Mark was able to get past these stereotypes and prove his abilities through hard work and perseverance. “I will continue to push myself to get better. Please watch over me!” Mark concluded.
