It has been revealed that singer Roy Kim made a meaningful donation to Jahyewon and Chunyangwon to celebrate Children’s Day. The two facilities are located in Daejeon and help children in need who are raised in low-income families and by single mothers.
The donation was made public when a representative from Chunywangwon thanked the singer on their personal Instagram account with the caption, “Roy Kim has sent a warm donation to celebrate Children’s Day. We are so very grateful.”
Roy Kim’s agency was asked to confirm the donation, and a representative replied, “Roy Kim made the donation because he wanted to bring more joy to the kids and asked that the money be used for snacks and summer clothes. He wasn’t intending for it to become public.”
This is not the first time Roy Kim has donated for a worthy cause. In 2012, Roy Kim donated 60 percent of his 500 million won (approximately $438,300) winnings from Mnet’s “Super Star K Season 4” to 20 different organizations, including Good Neighbors, the Yoo Jae Ha Scholarship Foundation, and the Korean Alliance for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
The singer has since made donations to other organizations like Compassion Korea and the Yeomyung School, which helps children of families who have defected from North Korea.
