Busker Busker’s Jang Bum Joon has been revealed to have enlisted in the army earlier this month on May 15 in order to fill out his mandatory military service.
His mother confirmed the news on May 30, and explained, “He did not give any specific details even to his family, and departed for training on his own. His family isn’t exactly sure where he is either.”
Based on eyewitness accounts, it appears the singer most likely enlisted at the 30th Division recruit training center in Gyeonggi Province. He is currently going through the five weeks of basic training, and will reportedly join the reserve forces to carry out the rest of his enlistment.
Jang Bum Joon is known mainly for being a member of Busker Busker, the second-place winners of “Superstar K3” back in 2013. Since then, the band released several hit singles and are known for their springtime hits, with the most famous being “Cherry Blossom Ending.”
