In the upcoming drama “Hwayugi,” Cha Seung Won will be playing the role of Woo Ma Wang, a goblin who has been in secret training to become god for 1,000 years, and Woo Hwi, the head of Korea’s biggest entertainment company Lucifer Production. Cha Seung Won’s character is gentle at times, but also cold and charismatic.
The above preview image from “Hwayugi” shows Cha Seung Won as Woo Hwi, turning a parking lot into a runway just with his presence.
Another image shows Woo Hwi talking to a security guard in front of a building. His cool, composed face turns into a questioning one while talking to the guard, leaving viewers curious about their exchange.
The scene with Cha Seung Won’s runway-like entrance was filmed on November 7 in Pajoo. Cha Seung Won appeared at the filming location with a long black umbrella, a symbol of Woo Ma Wang, and perfectly in sync with his character.
The production team of “Hwayugi” revealed that they watched in awe as Cha Seung Won acted out his role with sophisticated facial expressions, going from calm to perplexed, to forcing a smile to escape his situation.
The production company of “Hwayugi” stated, “Cha Seung Won is the perfect actor who is capable of expressing traditional drama and comedy freely. We are confident that he is the perfect fit for Woo Ma Wang, who is charismatic but at times comedic.” They added, “Please look forward to Cha Seung Won’s unpredictable and unexpected charm.”
“Hwayugi” tells the story about the troublesome goblin Son Oh Gong (played by Lee Seung Gi), and the strange yet gentle goblin Woo Ma Wang (Cha Seung Won), who embark on a journey to find light in a dark world.
The drama premieres on December 23 at 9 p.m. KST.
