Korean musicians from various genres will set the stage alight at this year’s South by South West (SXSW) and The Great Escape (TGE) music festivals!
Crush, Lee Hi, KARD, DPR Live, CIFIKA, and Say Sue Me will be participating in the “Korea Spotlight @SXSW” showcase event on March 16 during SWSX, which will be held from March 9 to 18. 3rd Line Butterly, Billy Carter, ADOY, and Say Sue Me will be performing at the “Korea Spotlight @TGE” showcase event at TGE, which will take place between May 17 to 19.
A press conference was held on February 27 with the musicians who will be participating in this year’s music festivals, and the event was attended by Crush, KARD, Say Sue Me, DPR Live, 3rd Line Butterly, Billy Carter, and ADOY.
Crush stated, “This is my first time participating in SXSW, so I’m excited. I really wanted to stand on this stage,” and “I’m currently working on my new album and I’ve also written a lot of songs while in the U.S.. So I’m planning to perform a new song at SXSW. I’ll work hard to prepare for this stage.” KARD also opened up about their upcoming performance and said, “We’ve attended the music festival before while we were on tour, and we’re very grateful to have this chance to greet our fans again through SXSW. We’re going to create a stage that everyone can enjoy together.”
3rd Line Butterfly has performed at SXSW before and they stated, “We believe this will be an opportunity for us to grow one step further. And we think it will bring hope to Korean musicians about taking their music overseas. If opportunities like this continue to exist, we think it could lead to the growth of interesting music styles that cater to foreign markets.” DPR Live recently garnered a lot of attention for featuring in Suzy’s music and he said, “One of my goals was to participate in SXSW. I’m so happy to have this opportunity to showcase Korean music overseas. I’m excited.”
“Korea Spotlight @SXSW” will be held on March 16 at the Belmont Austin in Texas, U.S., while “Korea Spotlight @TGE” will take place on May 19 in Brighton, U.K..
