JYP Entertainment And Other Companies Requesting Investigations Of Digital Chart Manipulation

Entertainment agencies are working together to find the truth regarding suspicions of digital chart manipulation.

On July 18, Park Jin Young wrote a post on Instagram that begins, “Fair competition and evaluation is the cornerstone for any industry.”

In Korean, he wrote, “Recently, suspicions of digital chart manipulation are being brought up, and those raising the suspicions and those receiving the suspicions are all having a hard time because of them.”

He continued, “We heard that there is a company that has already requested for the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism to investigate. We are also discussing this matter with several other agencies and plan on requesting investigations from the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism and the Korea Fair Trade Commission. Based on the results, we also plan on bringing this issue to the prosecution.”

Park Jin Young concluded, “We hope that the suspicions being brought up will be cleared up so artists and agencies can return to focusing on our primary duties.”

It was revealed on July 17 that the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism is already investigating regarding accusations of chart manipulation for Nilo’s “Pass.” Speculations have also been brought up recently regarding Shaun’s “Way Back Home.”

Back in 2013, JYP Entertainment, YG Entertainment, SM Entertainment, Cube Entertainment, FNC Entertainment, and Star Empire Entertainment joined forces to request investigations of digital chart manipulation.
