Ji Jin Hee In Talks To Lead Korean Remake Of

Ji Jin Hee may be starring in tvN’s remake of “Designated Survivor.”

On November 28, a source from tvN said, “It’s true that we offered Ji Jin Hee the role of the male lead, but it has not yet been finalized.”

“Designated Survivor” is a remake of the U.S. series by ABC of the same name that first aired in 2016 and is currently preparing for its third season. The series is about a terror attack during the State of the Union address that destroys the U.S. Capitol and takes the lives of nearly all members of the Cabinet. This leads to Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Tom Kirkman, who has no political ambitions, to become the acting President, as he was named the designated survivor — a member of the Cabinet that is deliberately absent from large events where all of the country’s major politicians are in attendance so that he or she can lead the government in the event of a terror attack or other catastrophic occurrence.

Ji Jin Hee has been offered the role of Tom Kirkman, which is played by Kiefer Sutherland in the ABC series. In the Korean remake, the role will be former KAIST chemistry professor-turned Minister of Environment Park Moo Jin.

“Designated Survivor” will be directed by PD Yoo Jong Sun of “Marry Him If You Dare” and written by writer Kim Tae Hee. The drama is scheduled to air sometime during the first half of 2019.
