Exclusive:

On January 29, upcoming drama “Touch Your Heart” held a press conference at Imperial Palace Hotel in Seoul with actors Lee Dong Wook, Yoo In Na, Lee Sang Woo, Son Sung Yoon, and director Park Jun Hwa in attendance.

“Touch Your Heart” is a romantic comedy that tells the story of a successful lawyer and an actress who fakes her position and works as his secretary. Lee Dong Wook will take on the role of Kwon Jung Rok, a lawyer who always wins his cases and has high credibility among his clients. Yoo In Na will play Oh Jin Shim, an actress under the stage name Oh Yoon Seo After a scandal takes place, she gets employed as Kwon Jung Rok’s secretary under false pretenses and hopes to glamorously return as an actress and clear her name.

During the conference, the actors discussed the reunion of “Goblin” cast, how each actor prepared to portray their characters, and their hopes for the drama’s viewership ratings.

When asked about Lee Dong Wook and Yoo In Na’s reunion since “Goblin,” director Park Jun Hwa said he has no worries about their images from “Goblin” negatively affecting the drama. He said, “When casting for the drama, I wondered who best matches the description of each character. When I first met with Yoo In Na, I noticed that she is cute, lovable, and has a bright personality. Lee Dong Wook is also very handsome, and I realized that he is the actor who can maximize the image of Kwon Jung Rok.”

Lee Dong Wook and Yoo In Na also commented on their drama reunion after “Goblin.” Lee Dong Wook said, “Since it is not our first time acting together, we were able to save time getting to know each other. I already know how [Yoo In Na] is on set and her acting style. I had faith in her that no matter what I do on set, she would handle it easily. Our chemistry in ‘Goblin’ was an honor, but our characters are completely different [in this drama].”

Yoo In Na added, “Thanks to ‘Goblin,’ many people are paying attention to our new drama. I’m also aware that there are people who worry that our characters from ‘Goblin’ might interfere with our new characters, but once you start watching the drama, you won’t think that anymore.”

She continued, “The way I feel about Lee Dong Wook’s character in this drama is different from the way I felt about him during ‘Goblin.’ In ‘Goblin,’ I pitied [Lee Dong Wok’s character] and wanted to hug him. However, in this drama, I feel attracted to Kwon Jung Rok. Many people including me and staff members rely on Lee Dong Wook a lot on set.”

Each actor took turns to share their different approaches to preparing for the drama. Lee Dong Wook said, “My character is a Tsundere (someone who has a cold outward behavior, but is actually warm and caring) character, and he is very much alike me. I actually do bring many aspects of Lee Dong Wook into acting as Kwon Jung Rok. The director also gives me advice on where to draw the line between being a Tsundere and actually being rude. To be honest, I’m not very friendly in real life.”

Yoo In Na said, “The description of my character is ‘the universe’s goddess.’ Those words really gave me a hard time. At the first meeting with director Park Jun Hwa, I asked him why he thought of me as the first choice for the role. I thought a beautiful woman who could really represent our country should play her. The director responded that he wanted to fully utilize the brightest and loveliest side of me. Because then, I would be able to create the Oh Jin Shim he had in mind in the first place. That’s when I decided to push aside feelings of pressure.”

At the end, the actors talked about their hopes for high viewership ratings. Lee Dong Wook said, “While ‘Goblin’ did achieve high viewership ratings, I only contributed to one or two percent. I’m not related to ‘Goblin.’ That’s all Gong Yoo. I anticipate to see good viewership ratings with a relaxed mind, but also with an excited and hopeful mind.”

Yoo In Na said, “Our director always said he wishes to make dramas that reach higher viewership ratings than previous dramas. So, I would like this drama to reach higher viewership ratings than [What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim?]”

Son Sung Yoon said, “I’m the only one [in the cast] with an Instagram account. If we reach viewership ratings above 10 percent, I will host a live broadcast on Instagram for 10 minutes.” Lee Sang Woo said, “The drama is really fun, so I anticipate the viewership ratings to go over 10 percent.”

Lee Dong Wook concluded by joking, “Please keep in mind that these are all personal opinions. If we reach viewership ratings of 10 percent or higher, we will give out coffee.”
