Watch: Kim Jae Hwan Blows Audience Away With Guitar Skills + Soulful Cover Of Bruno Mars's "When I Was Your Man"
Kim Jae Hwan impressed the crowd with his talent on the latest episode of “Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook”!
The singer made his first-ever appearance on the KBS 2TV music talk show on the June 7 broadcast of the program, where he kicked off his segment with a heartfelt rendition of Bruno Mars’s hit song “When I Was Your Man.”
Host Yoo Hee Yeol later commented, “I heard you worried a lot about which song to perform for your first song.” Kim Jae Hwan then revealed why he had chosen “When I Was Your Man” for his opening performance, explaining, “I decided to sing the song that I practiced back when I was a trainee dreaming of appearing on ‘Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook.’ So performing it [here on the show] gave me a special feeling.”
“When I was a trainee,” he continued, “I sang this song at my evaluations. So it feels very strange to be singing it here, on such an important stage, in front of so many people.”
Yoo Hee Yeol also pointed out the fact that Kim Jae Hwan had played the guitar during his cover, and the singer shared that he had learned to play guitar back in the fifth grade at his local community center. “I still play guitar,” he said, “but recently, I’ve started getting into playing the electric guitar.”
To the delight of the audience, Kim Jae Hwan went on to showcase his guitar skills—with Yoo Hee Yeol providing some accompanying vocals.
