BTOB's Yook Sungjae Discusses Pros And Cons Of Not Being The Youngest In New Web Variety Show
BTOB’s Yook Sungjae opened up about the pros and cons of being in a variety show with people his age during the press conference for the upcoming CubeTV variety show “Lovely 95s” (literal translation).
“Lovely 95s” follows real-life friends BTOB’s Yook Sungjae, former Boyfriend members Youngmin, Kwangmin, and Minwoo, Teen Top’s Ricky, and model Baek Kyung Do as they travel together and enjoy new experiences.
Yook Sungjae has gone from the maknae (youngest member) to the leader in this show. When asked how it felt, he replied, “I’ve always been the youngest wherever I was, I’m the youngest in BTOB and I’m also the youngest in ‘Master in the House.’ I think doing a variety show with friends my age has its pros and cons.”
He went on to state, “When I’m with people who are older in variety shows or in BTOB, I can rely on them and feel less pressured, but when I’m with friends my age, I believe we have to rely on each other and have a stronger sense of responsibility, and it does lead to me feeling more pressure. I want to keep appearing on variety shows, and I believe this will be a good learning experience. That’s the mindset I have as I work on this.”
Yook Sungjae had everyone laughing as he added, “I’m introduced as the leader but I’m not really a leader. They don’t follow me that well.” He concluded by saying, “We’re friends so we’re all on equal footing. That’s how we see things and we’re all taking responsibility for this show.”
“Lovely 95s” premiered on CubeTV and K STAR at 7 p.m. KST on July 12.
