Korean Film 'Cheer Up, Mr. Lee' Starring Cha Seung Won To Get French Remake

The 2019 Korean film “Cheer Up, Mr. Lee” is getting a French remake!

Following its premiere on September 11, “Cheer Up, Mr. Lee” has been spreading love and laughs among many moviegoers. The film tells the story of Chul Soo (played by Cha Seung Won), an employee at a noodle shop who earns the affection of many women with his perfect visuals and physique, but also possesses the cognitive skills of a child. One day, he discovers that he has a daughter.

The production company Yong Film has agreed to a French remake of “Cheer Up, Mr. Lee” with Studio Canal, one of the largest production and distribution companies in France. Studio Canal is known for having produced a number of hit films including the 2005 film “Pride and Prejudice” and the 2016 film “Bridget Jones’s Baby.”

Georgetta Curavale Izarn, Studio Canal’s international acquisitions and production manager, commented, “We decided on a remake of ‘Cheer Up, Mr. Lee’ because the film has the potential to be loved by the French audience for the unique warmth and laughs it delivers.”
