Song Kang Talks About Hopes For 2nd Season Of

Song Kang recently sat down for an interview to discuss his latest project “Love Alarm”!

Based on the popular webtoon of the same name, “Love Alarm” is a romance drama set in an alternate reality where people find love through an application that alerts users when someone within a 10-meter radius has feelings for them. Song Kang played Hwang Sun Oh, a popular student who has a crush on Kim Jo Jo (Kim So Hyun).

After the Netflix original series premiered on August 22, the actor gained immense popularity, causing viewers to wonder if there will be a second season.

During the interview, Song Kang was first asked about how he prepared for his role, which sometimes required “cheesy” lines. The actor laughed as he responded, “It was hard for me too at first. I even thought that I heard the staff’s laughter. But once I started to concentrate on the character, I became confident near the end. Because I felt the pressure of my first project as the lead character, I didn’t have time to worry about coming off as unlikable to the viewers. I acted while thinking about only Sun Oh’s feelings, but people told me that was actually nicer to see. I learned that I can display better acting if I’m not worried about every little thing.”

The actor then talked about what he wanted to see if a second season was confirmed for “Love Alarm.” He commented, “I want to see an episode about Jo Jo and Sun Oh’s appearance on that dating variety show ‘Clap Clap Clap.’ I want to portray Sun Oh who’s become more mature and responsible compared to season one. I’m not sure about the show’s future plans, but I want to respect whatever choice Jo Jo makes. Hm… I think [the story] will follow the original [webtoon].”

Song Kang also revealed that he had a late start in acting. His dream of becoming an actor first started after he saw Leonardo DiCaprio in “Titanic,” and he felt as if everything was going his way after being accepted into a university in Seoul. Despite this, he was unable to find success even after two years. Song Kang looked back on this time positively, saying, “Thanks to that, I was able to mature much faster. If I didn’t have that experience, I wouldn’t have been able to set my priorities straight. I wanted to become a star at first, but now I want to become an actor.”

He finally opened up about his personality, saying, “I don’t like being surrounded by tons of people on Friday or Saturday nights, so I even go to the gym earlier. My greatest getaway is shopping at my neighborhood market. I have to go somewhere with tons of people!” He laughed as he added, “Of course, gaining knowledge or experience is the most important thing to actors. Because my personality is like this, I might be lacking in experience compared to other actors my age, but I also might be able to portray certain characters best with this nature of mine. That’s why I don’t try to fix my natural personality.”
