Go Soo, Shim Eun Kyung, And Lee Sung Min Cast In Upcoming tvN Drama About Financial Crisis

Go Soo, Lee Sung Min, and Shim Eun Kyung have been confirmed as cast members for tvN’s new drama “Money Game!”

“Money Game” imagines a setting in which the major Korean banks are failing and on the verge of bankruptcy. A group of employees at the Financial Services Commission try to prevent the country from falling into a second “IMF crisis.”

The drama will be directed by Kim Sang Ho, who previously worked on “Spring Turns to Spring,” “Splendid Politics,” and “Tale of Arang.”

Go Soo has been cast in the role of Chae Yi Heon, an economic official who hides the fact that he’s from a wealthy family in order to be acknowledged for his true skills. Chae Yi Heon works as a section chief at the Economic Policy Bureau in the Financial Services Commission, and his father is the most famous economist in South Korea.

Shim Eun Kyung has been cast in the role of Lee Hye Joon, a newly appointed official who dreams of owning her own building someday and living an easy life. She had a difficult childhood after her family fell into financial difficulties during the financial crisis and worked hard in order to become a civil servant and have a steady income. Her hard work gets her appointed to the International Finance Bureau at the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

Lee Sung Min has been cast in the role of Heo Jae, a member of the Financial Services Commission who is fiercely ambitious and will stick at nothing to achieve his goals. Heo Jae witnessed the IMF crisis 20 years ago and was disillusioned by the helplessness of the Korean financial system. He vowed to make the system stronger even if it meant breaking the law.

“Money Game” will begin filming in late 2019 and is slated to premiere sometime in the first half of 2020.
