Update: Final Lineup Confirmed For MBC's "Idol Star Athletics Championship" Spin-Off Dog Competition

A total of eleven teams have been confirmed for MBC’s upcoming idol dog agility competition!

Instead of its biannual “Idol Star Athletics Championships,” which cannot be held indoors due to social distancing guidelines amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, MBC will be airing two stand-alone idol competition shows this Chuseok. This includes a dog agility competition and an eSports championship.

It was previously confirmed that GOT7’s Youngjae, MAMAMOO’s Moonbyul, UP10TION’s Kim Woo Seok, (G)I-DLE’s Shuhua, WJSN’s Soobin, Golden Child’s Bomin and Jaehyun, and Lovelyz’s Jisoo would be competing in the dog agility competition with their pet dogs.

On September 17, MBC confirmed all eleven teams, which also includes LOONA’s Heejin and Choerry and former Wonder Girls member and solo artist Yubin.

Red Velvet’s Joy and Jun Hyun Moo will be hosting the competition.

MBC is planning a new competition program for idols and their pet dogs!

On August 27, Sports Donga reported that MBC is preparing an idol dog agility competition as a Chuseok special. Dog agility is a sport in which a person directs a dog through an obstacle course. The recording for the show will take place in early September.

The participants confirmed so far include GOT7’s Youngjae, MAMAMOO’s Moonbyul, UP10TION’s Kim Woo Seok, (G)I-DLE’s Shuhua, WJSN’s Soobin, Golden Child’s Bomin and Jaehyun, and Lovelyz’s Jisoo. All of their agencies have confirmed their appearances on the show by posting official notices about taking fan-made banners to cheer the idols on during the event.

According to Sports Donga, the idol agility competition may air as a separate show from the “2020 Idol Star Athletics Championships” Chuseok special. Regarding this, a source from MBC shared, “We are checking.”
