Kim Nam Gil In Talks Along With Seo Ye Ji To Lead New OCN Fantasy Drama
On November 4, Ilgan Sports reported, “Kim Nam Gil will be starring in the OCN drama ‘Island’ (literal title) as the lead.” According to the reports, “Island” will be filming after spring of next year and air in the second half of 2021.
Following reports, a source from OCN shared, “Kim Nam Gil is currently reviewing the offer to star in OCN’s ‘Island.’ The concrete broadcast schedule is undecided.”
“Island” is a fantasy exorcism drama based on a webtoon of the same name. It’ll tell the story of man who needs a woman to end his cursed immortal life and a woman who doesn’t know about her sad and cruel fate. The two are joined by an exorcist priest who is consumed by the guilt of having been unable to protect one girl. On the island that possesses an evil darkness despite its beauty, the three characters who seem unlikely to get along will gather their strength to protect each other.
If he accepts the offer, Kim Nam Gil will be transforming into the sexy monster hunter Van who noticeably lacks the skills to adjust to reality. All he does is hunt, slice, and kill monsters. Despite all the terrifying slaughter, he feels nothing inside. Currently, Seo Ye Ji is also in talks to star in the drama as Won Mi Ho, the daughter of a rich family who is being targeted by goblins.
“Island” will be helmed by director Bae Jong and written by scriptwriter Jang Yoon Mi. Currently, Kim Nam Gil is starring in the tvN variety program “K-Ocean Pathfinders,” and he is preparing for the upcoming film “Declaration of Emergency” (literal title). Recently, Kim Nam Gil’s exclusive contract with C-JeS Entertainment also expired, and he has been working independently. If he accepts the offer, this will be his first drama since “The Fiery Priest.”
