9 K-Pop MV Plots That Portray Multiple Personas

K-pop music videos tell the most amazing visual stories. Their content has evolved tremendously over the years and the cinematography behind it is simply breathtaking. One such feature that has been used every now and then is the portrayal of multiple personas.

This being said, here are some MV plots that have introduced multiple personas of our favorite K-pop soloists and groups.

1. RM – “Joke”

Posing as a patient, guard, doctor, and a nurse, RM gives his rivals a taste of their own medicine by flaunting his insane flow. With flawless bars, incredible speed, and perfect rhymes, it’s fair to say that RM’s rap skills are no joke!

2. Jeon Somi – “What You Waiting For”

In this MV, we see seven sides of the artist as she ponders over her love life. Each persona is more assertive than the other and they all share one common goal: to break Somi free from a relationship that’s been holding her back all this time.

3. VIXX – “Hyde”

VIXX took a page from literature with their vivid adaptation of “Strange case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde” by Robert Louis Stevenson. Both their good and evil personas are portrayed interchangeably, thus driving their love interest away as their behavior towards her endlessly oscillates.

4. TWICE – “I Can’t Stop Me”

Starting from the early scenes in the MV, TWICE is facing a dilemma as they find themselves lured to the darkness. As they try to resist the temptation, they can’t help but feel that an inner force within them is driving them to take the opposite way.

5. KARD – “Gunshot”

In a classical good vs. evil plot, the quartet is stuck between two parallel but connected worlds. The good doppelgängers are suffering from the wrongdoings of their evil counterparts, that is, until Jiwoo takes action and puts an end to this bullying by eliminating her bad self to break the cycle.

6. EXO – “Obsession”

EXO is facing their dark selves X-EXO in duals that are simply impossible to win. With the song and MV’s theme revolving around obsession, it seems that the reason why the members can’t defeat their evil alter egos is that they are mutually projecting the feeling on each other.

7. Agust D – “Daechwita”

Agust D is not Suga’s only persona, as he introduced two clashing personalities in his music video: Agust D from the past meeting Agust D from the present. The storyline takes place in a historical setting with a modern touch, which emphasizes how things have changed during the period between the release of the first and second mixtapes.

8. Sunmi – “Siren”

It hardly comes as a surprise that Sunmi incorporated the multiple persona concept since she always goes for intriguing content. Haunted by four versions of herself, Sunmi tries to escape the fancy image represented by her doppelgängers and commits to finding solace in the comfort of her home away from the bling.

9. WOODZ (Cho Seung Youn) – “Love Me Harder”

WOODZ takes the audience into a restless chase between his edgy hardcore self and his emotionally vulnerable self. The two make many jumps that distort reality to the viewers, with the main topic focusing on his toxic relationship that he can’t seem to realize on his own.
