2PM’s Junho And Lee Se Young Considering Offers To Star In New Historical Drama
On March 9, industry representatives reported that Junho and Lee Se Young will be starring in “The Red Sleeve Cuff” (literal translation).
In response to the reports, a source from Junho’s agency JYP Entertainment clarified, “2PM’s Junho is positively reviewing the offer to star in MBC’s new drama ‘The Red Sleeve Cuff,'” while Lee Se Young’s agency Prain TPC also commented, “She is positively reviewing [the offer].”
Based on a novel of the same name, “The Red Sleeve Cuff” is about the story of the royal noble consort Ui of the Seong clan, who was the mother of Crown Prince Mun Hyo. She started off as a court lady but eventually rose to the highest rank among the women of the internal court as the first senior rank of Bin. The story will portray the dramatic life twists that occurred for an ordinary court lady to become the mother of the crown prince.
Lee Se Young has received the offer to play the royal noble consort Ui. Junho is in talks to play the next monarch, Yi San Jeongjo, who was born as the direct descendant and eldest grandson of the King. He works hard to become the perfect successor that his grandfather King Yeongjo wants, but he is still traumatized from the death of his father Crown Prince Sado.
The new drama will be helmed by director Jung Ji In, who worked on “Radiant Office” and “Hold Me Tight,” and it will be written by scriptwriter Jung Hae Ri, who worked on “Ruler: Master of the Mask.” The drama is expected to premiere in September following Park Ha Sun and Namgoong Min‘s upcoming drama “Black Sun” (literal title).
If confirmed, this will be Junho’s first project since his discharge from his mandatory service later this month and Lee Se Young’s first drama since “Kairos” last year.
